Being Travel Thursday, I am going to recap the rest of my Miami trip. When I left off from my Miami Recap Part I, we had left the beautiful Vizacaya Museum and Gardens. We headed back to our hotel to enjoy their happy hour by both the pool and beach. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a drink before we got ready to go out for dinner. We had a scrumptious dinner at Michael Mina in the FontaineBleau hotel. I had a unique twist on a classic- lobster pot pie. I left with a full belly and ready to start our next two relaxing days of vacation.
Monday was the husband’s birthday so we started our morning after sleeping in (I cannot remember the last time I slept past 7am and it was glorious). Since our first two days in Miami were action packed, we both agreed we wanted the second half of the trip relaxing in the sun. We read, relaxed and swam before we rented some paddleboards. The concierge was so helpful in getting us connected to a local paddleboard company who dropped the boards off at our hotel pool and picked them up as well. We spent so much time in the water because it was so warm. We are used to year round freezing CA waters so this was a welcome change. Although the water was very choppy, we enjoyed a few hours of paddle boarding (and getting a core workout).
Our night ended at a birthday dinner at Dolce Italiano with friends from Florida. We had such an entertaining night with friends that I did not take a single picture of our dinner. We were able to enjoy Miami Spice Week which included an app, dinner course and dessert.
We planned to stay by the pool from morning until afternoon until our evening flight. Another morning of sleeping in was followed by enjoying “The Husband’s Secret” by the pool with a mimosa. We headed out in the late afternoon for a stop at Visa-01, a secluded restaurant in an office building near Lincoln Road. After we enjoyed a delicious star eggplant pizza, we walked around Lincoln Rd before grabbing an ice cream & an Uber to head to the airport.
We headed out to the airport around 3pm. The best part about traveling to the east coast? Gaining those three hours back. We had a pretty turbulent flight so I was extremely happy when we touched down in CA. Our trip to Miami was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
Tell me: What do you prefer – the pool or the ocean?
