Earlier this week, I was texting a friend about our upcoming Napa trip (follow me in wine country on instagram starting tomorrow). She had just returned from the bay area so I was getting her advice on outfits and the weather (because there nothing worse than packing the wrong type of clothes for a trip) when she wrote “I am a firm believer in always having something to look forward to, big or small.” She took the words right out of my mouth!
I am always looking forward to my next trip whether it be a weekend trip or a bigger international trip. I think by now my husband knows that before we have even taken the next upcoming trip, I must have another trip booked. Plus, you have to have something to cure those post vacation blues!! The husband can count on me talking about our next trip when we are on the airplane, traveling back home from the current trip. Although I am so thrilled and excited about Napa, I am just as excited for our next international trip to Spain in January. One does not take away from another, it’s simply double the excitement and anticipation! What can I say, travel offers me so much I can’t help to love it. Today for Travel Thursday, I wanted to share my top 3 reasons I travel.
I travel because..
- Travel takes me out of my comfort zone – I have shared before that traveling has helped me get over my fear of heights, flying and small spaces (fine almost over on this one). Travel has landed me in spots where I only knew how to say hi and thank you in the local language. I have been countries I felt very uncomfortable in but was forced to step out and ended up having the time of my life. Getting out of your comfort zone is necessary for growth and usually ends up being a wonderful decision.
- Travel leads to personal growth – Speaking of growth, traveling has been a huge part of my personal growth as an adult. I really don’t know why it took me so long to travel. Traveling was always something I thought about. Even after high school, I dreamed of traveling to France but it took me until my early 20’s to travel overseas. I have learned so much about myself, the world, what I have to be grateful for, what others experience, culture, history and on and on. I’m telling you, take a trip and you are bound to expand your horizons and thoughts.
- Travel makes me happy – It does not get more simple than that. Travel is the hobby that incites excitement, is something I am passionate about and genuinely fills me with joy. No one should deny themselves what makes them happy and I am even luckier that I get to travel with the person who makes me most happy. #winninginlife
