Friday Favorites #32

Last week dragged on but this week flew by. Work has been swamped with issues and busy classes. Being busy at the studio is a good problem to have. I took my first day off in weeks on Wednesday and it was one of the most productive days I have ever had. Although it wasn’t a leisurely day, I accomplished so much and felt great after. It reminded me how much days off are needed. And here we are, back to another weekend. Tomorrow, I am spending the day with my family celebrating my nephew’s birthday. On Sunday, I am teaching my usual Orangetheory classes followed by errands and another birthday celebration for my dad. I will take a more low key weekend because from here on out our weekends are getting booked up very quickly. In usual Friday fashion, here are some of my favorites from the week:

WTRMLN WTR

Thank goodness.. IT IS BACK!!! I have been craving WTRMLN WTR the last few weeks and finally spotted it back on shelves at the grocery store. I am obsessed.

Warm Weather

Cali has been having some very warm weather which was the perfect reason to take the baby out on an adventure. We went up to Lytle Creek, about 20 mins north of us. We enjoyed the warm weather and hiking around the creek. The water was freezing but Emma got in and enjoyed getting outdoors.

Countdown to Race Season

I am getting so excited for the next few races we have coming up! One month until Ragnar So Cal and two months until the OC Half. I shared a coupon code on Instagram this week if you missed signing up before the price increase.

Puerto Vallarta

The husband booked our next vacation this week. Getting the email from my husband made my day! I am so excited for summer and spending a long weekend relaxing on the beach, drinking a margarita and paddleboarding.

Tell me: What are your plans for the weekend? What are your favorites from the week?

Friday Favorites #31

It has been a hot minute since I have done a Friday Favorites post. I am looking forward to the weekend that will be fitness focused. On Saturday, I am teaching my usual cycle class before driving up north for my niece’s birthday. On Sunday, I am not teaching my usual Orangetheory classes because I have TRX Training! I have been wanting to get my certification for quite some time. The certification is a full 8 hour day but I love learning so I am looking forward to it. Before the weekend starts, I am sharing some of my favorites from this week! Play along and share your favorites in the comments.

Jamba Juice Island Pitaya Bowls – I am obsessed – I have had 3 this week! The fresh fruit (3 of my favs) on the top is perfection. Perfect breakfast and start to my day!

“Eat, Sleep, OTF” Shirt – This shirt has my life summed up perfectly. I have been all about OTF lately. Since coming back from my trip, I have been playing catch up. Spending a little more time than usual just means I have done an Orangetheory workout almost everyday.

Craft Time – As we are still in the processing our decorating our home, I finally gathered all of the maps I have been collecting. I purchased new frames this week and went to town cutting the maps to fit the frame. I love having all of the places I have visited framed to see everyday. My plan is to put them as a gallery wall at the top of our stairs so I can see them every single day!

Pump Day – YES, just yes!

Home of Spoiled Dog – My favorite housewarming gift! Lets be honest, it’s Emma’s house, we just live there.

Lululemon Fringe Fighter Headbands – I posted about these bad boys a weeks ago on Instagram. I cannot get enough. They are reversible, comfortable and super cute. My headband collection just continues to grow!

Tell me: What were your favorites from the week? What is your favorite fruit?

Friday Favorites #30 – Blog Roll

No matter how stressful or busy my days get, I always find time to read my favorite blog posts. Whether it’s taking a lunch break to read posts or catching up at the end of the day before I sleep, I have been reading most of the same blogs for almost 4 years. (Side note: after writing this I realized how I have seen a large amount of bloggers go from married to having kids and they all have super cute children!) I have been meaning to write a ‘blog roll’ for months now so today in the usual Friday fashion, for Friday Favorites, I will be sharing my favorite blogs. Of course on the blog roll is one of favorites Heather, who is also host of Friday Favorites. Please comment below with your favorite blogs as I would love to add more to my reading list.

Friday Favorites

Fitness

  • A Lady Goes West – I love Ashley’s blog because it is a great mix of fitness, everyday life, delicious food and of course pictures of her adorable dog Rudy! I have always loved her blog as a fellow fitness instructor and most recently as she switched to the ‘corporate’ world, I have been loving her new perspective of working and working out.
  • Carrots ‘N’ CakeTina reeled me into her blog with her running updates and pug pics but has kept me reading with her recipes, insight on various workouts and family updates.
  • Fitness Fatale – Nicole first of all is an absolute inspiration! She really inspires with her motivation and dedication to fitness. And her killer abs (and even after her super cute baby) always push me to work just a little harder in the gym.
  • Hungry Runner GirlJanae is someone I would love to meet in person. Her blog has always made me want to be friends with her and helped me get through a very rough breakup just by her personality, pictures of her adorable daughter and her happy ending she deserved! She is an amazing runner and shares helpful tips for running on her blog.
  • Life in Leggings – I have always loved reading Heather’s blog from her previous blog and her moves around the US. I did not think it was possible to love her blog anymore than she moved to New York (one of my favorite cities) and become a studio manager of Orangetheory so I have continued to be excited to read her posts everyday!
  • Run, Eat, Repeat – Monica writes by far the funniest blog I have ever read! I am constantly laughing out loud at her posts and feeling just a little better each time I read. She is a dedicated and realistic runner that always reminds me that running isn’t always perfect and yes, running and eating go hand in hand.
  • Running 4 Cupcakes – A Body Pump coach, nurse and Mom (with a second on the way), Katie is always a blog I enjoy reading. One of my favorite posts is when she writes sayings her 4 year old does – too cute!
  • Runs For CookiesKatie’s blog is just truly indescribable. Years ago when I first discovered her blog, I was lost for hours just reading article after article. She has lost 120+ pounds and a real example of dedication and motivation. Further to that, she is very real and true to the struggles of her life, losing weight and dealing with depression. I have always appreciated her honesty in her blog posts and why years later still one of my favorite reads.
  • Peanut Butter Fingers – Julie’s blog was one of the first I came across over 4 years ago. Although it is under the fitness category, her blog has continued to evolve to include content I always appreciate. Delicious recipes, killer workouts and pictures of her son and dog Sadie started a love of the blog that still goes strong today!
  • Peanut Butter Runner – Talk about yoga inspiration. Jen is a yoga goddess, fellow dog mom, fitness instructor and of course runner. I just love her yoga challenges and workouts that make me want to push myself just a bit further.
  • SoCal Runner Girl – The next time I am in San Diego, I truly hope to run into Kate. Her blog posts have always made me want to be her friend. Her running = just pure amazing. She posts the most gorgeous pictures and is constant reminder that if you want it, go for it!
  • The Fitnessista – Her name says it all, the queen of fitness. Her workouts are killer. She offers very inclusive summer and winter shape -ups. This is the page to search through when you are at the gym and do not know what to workout. And don’t forget to look through her yummy food pics while you are there.

Travel

  • Pictures & Plane Tickets – Be prepared for major trip envy! Krystle has been to amazing places around the world, always offers a great insight for trips and takes beautiful pictures. Fellow lovers of travel, this is a definite add you want to make to your reading!
  • TravelettesThis blog post is exciting because it has multiple contributors – a group of female travelers, writers and photographers who share travel experiences from around the world. A unique insight from travelers originated from different countries really shows a different side to traveling that will benefit any traveler.
  • The Blonde Abroad – TBA has some of the best trip recaps I have seen. She offers so much trip information, I have looked at a dozen before to narrow down the best time to visit a spot and what I must see. If you are planning a trip, make sure to check out her recaps to help plan your trip.
  • The Tourist of Life – This is another blog that offers perfect destination recaps. I constantly am reading posts from “The Tourist of Life” and experiencing strong wanderlust after seeing pictures from around the world!
  • World of WanderlustWhen it comes to travel blogs, Brooke’s offers unique perspectives of destinations across the world. She also offers a travel book club which is a must join for fellow readers, travelers or lovers of both.

Lifestyle

  • A Spoonful of Style Jade has amazing style. End of story. Her pictures always make my want to put more effort into my outfits! Definite closet envy!
  • Erin’s Inside Job – Erin’s blog of a breath of fresh air. She is truly an encouragement in life. Her story is so motivational and her blog posts really show what she has learned in life. She offers very thought provoking and encouraging posts that touch on a variety of topics.
  • STUFT Mama – The mama herself, Kristin is the definitive of determined! She has pushed through injuries in running, has twin boys, teaches and still has time to be get her workouts in! I look forward to her always heartfelt and encouraging words.
  • Sweet Tooth, Sweet LifeCourtney not only has two adorable sons but offers a glimpse into the working mom lifestyle. She offers delicious recipes, Stitch Fix reviews and relatable posts.
  • The Skinny Confidential – I have only mentioned TSC like a million times before because it is not only one of my favorite blogs but also hosts my favorite podcast. Creator Lauryn offers all types of posts including fashion, fitness (including her body bombshell) and lifestyle posts! Make sure to check out #askhimandher podcast on iTunes, you won’t regret it!

Please share with me your favorite blogs in the comments. I would love to add more to my blog roll!

Friday Favorites #29

It’s been another one of those weeks that I am welcoming Friday with open arms. My Saturday morning will be filled with teaching, an Orangetheory workout and then a Coach’s Meeting at the studio. I plan to spend the rest of Saturday relaxing as much as possible. Although California hasn’t gotten the memo that it is fall and weather under 90 degrees is preferred, we will be visiting the Pumpkin Patch on Sunday after I teach Orangetheory. I love wearing flannels and boots so the weather just needs to be cooler to make it socially acceptable. Per the usual (and it’s been awhile, I am sharing some of my favorites from the week for Friday Fridays. Linking up with Heather & Katie!

Friday Favorites

Rock My Run

At Orangetheory, we use Rock My Run with playlists that are suggested to use with the workout. I recently got Rock My Run for myself and absolutely love it. It is perfect for running because you can pick the BPMs you want the music to match, see what artists are on playlists and the songs are a perfect blend of upbeat music. Although I still use Spotify for my cycle playlists – Rock My Run has been my go to for my personal workouts!

1SE (1 Second Everyday) App

My husband got my hooked on this app and we both make sure to get our one second video everyday. 1 Second Everyday is a “video diary that stitches together videos and photos to document your life’s journey.” The concept is to string the videos together which helps to stimulate memory and incite positive memories. I have almost two months worth and I cannot wait to have a year of my life in 3 minutes! You can get the App on Itunes!

New Fall TV

I actually am not a big TV watcher. The husband and I do not have cable because we use Hulu to watch any shows we do keep up on. One of my favorite shows (Fresh Off The Boat) does not start until next week so I started a few new shows to occupy me that I am absolutely loving. My top new favorite is The Good Place! First off, it is Kristen Bell. Second, it is a lighthearted, easy show to watch. Another show I am loving after 2 episodes, This Is Us. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding this show and for good reason. The first episode alone left you very surprised in the last minute. Of course, some of my go-to shows have some great seasons starting like How To Get Away With Murder (I am dying to know who is under that sheet), New Girl and The Mindy Project.

“Truly, Madly, Guilty”

Liane Moriarty is one of my favorite authors (read “The Husband’s Secret” and “Big Little Lies” if you haven’t) so I was thrilled when she wrote a new book. Although the reviews for “Truly, Madly, Guilty” were mixed, I loved it! It wasn’t her best but I couldn’t put it down. Her writing is so captivating and makes you turn each page because there are so many questions to be answered!!

Friday Favorites #28

Can we all just agree that 4 day weeks are amazing! This week flew by and this weekend is going to be packed with 2 cycle classes, an Orangetheory class, my first class as an Orangetheory instructor and a night concert at the lake with friends. It has been quite awhile since I posted a Friday Favorites but this week was one filled with some definite highlights so I had to stop in to link up with Heather & Katie.

Friday

1) Planning our travel themed home has been a stress reliever! While the entire house will not be travel themed, it will be heavily present across all rooms. We already have a lot of travel themed decor as well as souvenirs from trips that we want to display. I have been scouring the internet and found so many great ideas to use things like maps and pictures from past trips. Pinterest has given me so much inspiration that I can’t help but ask – is it November yet?

Travel themed

2) We booked our next trip to Napa Valley! I am so excited to spend my 28th birthday in wine country. In less than a month, we will get to spend a long weekend wine tasting with our friends. I hope to take the Napa Valley wine train and do some grape stomping. Any suggestions for our Nor Cal trip?

Napa

3) Our 4th of July started with a local 5K that I have done a handful of times. The only running I have been doing has been at Orangetheory so I told myself to just have fun. I did not even run with my Garmin and enjoyed just running. The run takes place in a beautiful college town so the views were amazing. All in all it was one of the most enjoyable runs and sparked that desire for running again. Plus training will start next month for the Run Revel.

4th of July 5K

4) The long weekend was not short on delicious desserts and we finally got to try the new CREAM ice cream sandwich shop. The shop went in down the street a few months ago so we decided to enjoy a summer evening walk to burn some calories before we consumed a large amount. The husband got the do-ssaint sandwich (which was amazing) and my funfetti cookie, cookie dough ice cream was definitely a winner. While it was a perfect summer dessert, it will be a splurge in the future because it is just too much sugar in one sitting.

CREAM

5) This summer has been so enjoyable. While I have yet to make it to the beach, the weather has been so nice. My absolute favorite time of the day – 6pm. When the sun starts going down, it cools down but is still warm. We have been getting of pool time which makes up for the lack of beach.

Friday Favorites : Running Gear

Most runners have a story about when they first started that ended up in blisters or chaffing. These stories have helped runners to learn the importance of a good pair of running shoes and/or moisture wicking clothes. While running is simply just about starting, as you continue to run you will value good quality items that help support your training and/or potentially racing. Over the years of running for fun or enduring the training for race, there are a few tried and true things that I have come to NEED while running. Today for Friday Favorites, I am sharing my Favorite Running Gear. Linking up with Heather (whose new move to NY is making me so excited for our trip to the Big Apple next week) and Katie. Share your Friday Favorites in the comments!

1) Energy / Gu Fuel – For the first race that I ran, it was definitely amateur hour. Refueling never crossed my mind and half way through the light went off in my head. There is a reason that runners have their go to race fuel, never straying without thoroughly testing out a new fuel before committing. Gu Fuel Gel is my go-to for energy during a race. I take one before the start of a race and at least one, sometimes two during. I have tried the chomps and I just cannot get over the texture and having to chew while running. My favorite flavors are salted caramel and salted watermelon!!

2) Bic Bands – I have spent tons of money when first running on headbands that no slip or sports headbands for the active girl. NONE of them have worked. Then at my first race expo, I walked past the Bic Bands booth, enticed by the glitter headbands and I have been hooked ever since. These bad boys are the real deal. I have worn them through hours of classes, running and work without having to even adjust once. These are a staple in my workout and real life wardrobe. I hate having hair in my face and these beauties keep my hair in place forever!! I cannot recommend them enough (that’s coming from someone who might have upwards of 20 glitter colors!)

img_4343

3) KT Tape – This is the newest addition to my favorite running gear. KT Tape is used on muscles, ligaments, and tendons and provides lightweight, external support. When my knee was giving me problems, I finally broke down, bought a roll and it looks like this weekend I will already need to get more. This has helped my knee immensely before, during and after the half marathon. I have worn it for days on end and noticed a huge improvement in my recovery. I have been sharing it with others that at the family’s birthday celebration last week I ended up taping my brother and dad. When I texted my brother this week, he said his shoulder has already felt better.

4) Compression SocksPro Compression socks are the best! I have been rotating my socks out each day. Compression socks help speed recovery as well as increase blood flow so they are the perfect addition during training and after a race. Every single race I immediately change into compression socks and don’t take them off for 24 hours. With my IT band problems, compression socks have been my go to when sleeping. Plus compression socks are great beyond workouts. A pair is making its way into my suitcase for our long flight to Greece!

5) Running Watch / Garmin Forerunner 220 – I started my running on a treadmill but by the time fall rolled around I wanted to start running outside. I got my first Garmin as a gift and have never looked back. I love the ease of using it and have really learned to pace my runs using a watch. I think a running watch has helped me really fine tune my running. I love that the watch syncs with the app to have comparisons of my runs on my phone. While running naked (like I was forced to when I packed my watch away and couldn’t find it) can be freeing, I was thrilled to have my watch back during my half training.

Friday Favorites #26

I am so excited it is Friday. Thankfully this week went by extremely fast because today marks the two week countdown to Greece! This weekend will fly by with the OC Half Marathon and a birthday celebration for my brother.  In usual fashion, Fridays are made for Friday Favorites with Heather & Katie.

Friday Favorites

Carlsbad Flower Fields

This past weekend, we made a day trip down to Carlsbad to visit the Flower Fields. Although it was rather overcast, the weather was enjoyable to walk through the beautiful flowers. The pictures do not do justice to the beautiful colors spread across a huge field. The best part is walking to the top of the hill to see the beach beyond the flowers in the distance. We walked the entire field and took pictures of the beautiful rainbow layout before entering a sweet pea maze. The gardens are just beautiful. If you’re in So Cal I would highly recommend making a trip.

Friday Favorites #25

Its been a rough morning. I wrote my post up for Friday Favorites, hit Save Draft and got an error message! Lesson learned – hit save throughout writing. It wont bring me down though because it is Friday which means in 6 hours I will be starting the weekend. It has been quite awhile since I linked up with Heather & Katie for Friday Favorites. While the last few weeks have been enjoyable, they have been very hectic. I am enjoying slowly getting back into a normal routine. Who knew I would get to a point in my life where I crave a day spent studying and doing chores!? We are driving up north to celebrate my nephew’s birthday this weekend. Sunday will be filled with some visits to model homes (see below) and studying for my group exercise certification.

Friday Favorites

Here are some of my favorites from the week:

The husband and I started house hunting last weekend for our first home together. I love looking at model homes, seeing them decorated gives me so many ideas! The process has been moving faster than we thought resulting in us narrowing it down to our final 2. We will be showing my parents this weekend and continue moving forward with the process. The thing I am most excited for? Our spare bedroom will be our home gym. Pinterest has been my most used app this week for that reason alone.

Also last weekend, we enjoyed some time at Barnes and Noble looking at the travel books for Greece. I loved the travel section (did I really just state the most obvious sentence possible) and will definitely return for our next trip  to do more research.

Barnes and Noble

I never thought I would say this but I have really been into EDM the past few weeks. While I had a song or two in my playlists when I started teaching, I have been using it more and more. This week, I taught a full EDM cycle class. The feedback was amazing and very well liked. Meghan Trainor had it right, it’s all about the bass!

I am so excited to use my new convertible purse / back pack in Greece. Even better that it was on sale!

Friday Favorites #24

It has been awhile since I have done a Friday Favorites from my trip through the holidays. Before I knew it, we were at the New Year which is NOT an accountant’s favorite time of the year. It is not only month end but year end as well at work. Therefore, I  have been working til 9pm every night which means my workouts and schedule have been all over the place. I am looking forward to a weekend teaching my cycle classes, working out, wedding planning and relaxing as much as possible. Linking up with Heather and Katie to share some of my favorites from the week.

Friday Favorites

Our Engagement Pictures – I shared last week that we saw some of the pictures and I was in love. 90% of our pictures are selfies  Once in a while we will ask someone to take pictures of us when we are out. Our engagement pictures blow every picture we have ever taken out of the water. Our photographer is extremely talented. She made the whole process very easy and make us more comfortable in front of a camera. I am even more excited for the wedding photos. Here are some of my favorites from our session.

We booked our honeymoon – The countdown starts, less than 5 months until we visit Greece! We will be spending 10 days in Greece but flying out of New York. Therefore, we will get to spend a few days in New York in addition to Greece. Does it get better?! We are even trying to work a drive up to Boston to our trip. Needless to say, it will be an epic trip.

Cold Weather – California had a week of rain and temperatures under 50. For a Cali native, I was thrilled to enjoy the wet weather and even see snow in the mountains. We definitely need it so I will keep doing my rain dance!

I finally got to catch up on my online reading including posts from some of my personal favorite blogs:

I am thrilled to be here because that means I have three work days next before we leave for Thailand. My weekend plans consist of packing, teaching my cycle classes, seeing “The Night Before” and having game night with our best friends. Keeping it short and sweet today but per the usual, here are some of my favorites from the week. Linking up with Heather & Katie.

Friday Favorites

I got back to yoga this week and absolutely loved it. I always feel amazing after yoga and am reminded why I need to get back to a consistent routine of attending class.

My siblings and I draw Secret Santas for Christmas. Since the husband and I will be returning after the first week of December, we needed to pick names before we left. I used DrawNames.com which made the process so easy! I was able to set up exceptions (couples not being able to choose each other) and wish lists on the site. Especially with my sister and her husband living a few hours away, this made it easier to have everyone get their “Santa” in an email.

Speaking of Christmas.. Yes, I am that person. I started listening to Christmas music this week! I could not stop my excitement when I heard the Christmas tunes on the radio. I usually overload on Christmas music that by the week of Christmas I am actually burnt out. ‘Tis the season!

There are some great movies coming up and I am completely excited about “Zoolander 2.” This was one of my favorite movies because I have always been a Ben Stiller fan. Of course, it looks just as dumb and equally funny. The Allegiant Trailer also made me so excited for March! I also need to finish the book before the movie comes out.. looks like I will be packing that in my carry on!
